| St. Michael's Church was originally a Romanesque basilica built in the 13th century. It was renewed in the 16th century in Gothic style. Later, in the 18th century, a Baroque vestibule and a Classicistic facade were added. The narrow Gothic tower of Michaelerskirche has become one of the symbols of the Inner City. The St. Michaeler's square that takes its name from the church, also houses the Hofburg 's St. Michaelers Tract, the Loos-House designed by Adolf Loos in 1911, and the open air museum of the Roman ruins of Vindobona. |
